Part 2/4

Cardiac ultrasound is an invaluable tool inĀ the hemodynamic assessment of preoperative patients as well as in the intraoperative and postoperative clinical setting; in addition, both critically ill and emergency patients have been shown to benefit from immediate bedside echocardiography. Since the development of focused cardiac ultrasound, this technique is often utilized as a primary investigational tool.

Whereas traditional courses aim for transferring knowledge with only limited time availableĀ for obtaining the related skills, this course stimulates people to perform hands on with transthoracic echocardiography, guided by bedside tutors. The theoretical part should be studied through web based texts and clips. Evidently, the structure of the course limits the number of registrants, permitting enough time spent with hands on training throughout the course.
