Dr Breebaart finished her residency in anaesthesiology in 2007 at the Antwerp University Hospital. She is a staff-member in the same hospital since 2008. She has done research on the field of spinal anaesthesia for day-case surgery with special focus on the recovery of the bladder function and published several papers on this topic.
She has been active in the Belgian Association for Regional Anaesthesia (BARA) since 2009 as a tutor of different cadaver and ultrasound workshops and as a speaker at national and international congresses. She became a board member of the BARA in 2012. She is occupied most of her time with anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery and training of ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia at the university hospital. Besides regional anaesthesia she is also specially interested in anaesthesia for thoracic surgery and the field of communication and medical hypnosis.
